Table Tennis and Badminton are the traditional "National Sports", but for the younger generation of guys, Basketball and Football (Soccer) are undoubtedly the sports of choice, now pretty deeply rooted in urban society. It’s likely partly because of these sports’ adaptable "play-anywhere" nature, but largely due to the presence of the odd Chinese player competing at the top levels in US and Europe, and subsequent round-the-clock live broadcasting (possibly unlicensed) of NBA and UEFA Champions League matches. In contrast, nobody gives a stuff about baseball, cricket, rugby, NFL, ice hockey…though no doubt this would soon change if a Chinese national ever began competing at the top level…
